I was able to get a code for a radio/CD unit that I purchased on EBay by following the suggestion in the link. Be aware that Mitsubishi may ask for your name, address, telephone and email address as part of the process -- they did for me. In fact, the sent me an email thanking me for calling them.

Of course, you will need your VIN, radio serial number and the MR# from the unit.

Sorry I haven't been on here for a while and due to the enormous amount of audio code requests which were taking up alot of my free time I am now offering them for a $5.00 fee. You will need a paypal account to send the money. Just send me a message if you are interested.

I got the same problem with my car mitsubishi eclipse 1996. All I did is calling 1888MITSU2007 (press 1 and then 4 to talk to a representative). A representative will ask you

- the last 8 of VIN#,
- the Serial# of car radio,
- and some info. like your name, address, homephone, email address, new or preowned car
and that will be it; she then will give you a security code for FREE.

Before doing that, I called the local dealler for help; however, he needed $85 for accessing a program, so I just said "thank you" nicely to him and hung up. It doesn't make sense to pay that much money.

To get the serial# of my car radio, I just removed the front plate and I could see the serial# on the top of my radio. Removing the front plate is very easy; you don't have to use any tool; just pull it out and that's it.

I hope this info. will be useful for our forum.

your audio code should be on cards given to you when you purchase your car. check in the owner's manual and the other paperwork. if its not to be found you can call 1-800-mitsu2007 and give them your vin# and serial# from the radio. they'll give you the code FREE. no sense in paying someone for a code you can get FREE with a simple phone call.
be advised though, if you enter the code wrong 3 times your display will go from "code" to "off" mode. if this happens, you can either call mitsu back to find out what to do OR...you can do what i did:

i turned my ignition to the "on" position. left it there for an hour. then it reset itself back to "code" and i entered the code and VIOLA! surprisingly, it worked!!!

best of luck!

I needed a radio code for my car, so I called 1-888-MITSU2008, gave them my VIN number, Serial # and MR # off of my radio and they gave it to me within approximately 2 minutes.

My radio had actually been replaced with one from a salvage lot, but they still found the appropriate code.

Just wanted to advise anyone out there needing theirs.

Thanks.

What car are you tring to remove it from. Some will require tools however some can be done by removing the panel and some screws.

Cheers for the info - may come in useful :) . Need to get some service car parts now. My colt has had it! Is the place i linked to any good?
