Hi all,
I am driving an mitsubishi 2.5 L300 motor van. When i started driving about six months ago, the van giving out too much black smoke when it start off from the red light traffic and also on the road. The first time, they cleared my injection pistons as it could be blocked. After sending it to service on the black smoke for the second time, It look fine after 1 or 2 days of servicing. About 1 week or so, black smoke still emit from the exhaust. I talk to the workshop that i sent for. They told me they change the oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and even clear my injection pistons. However i still having black smoke.
I notice i had a rough engine sound when i start my engine in the morning. After driving for about 5 to 10 km, i had a strange noise coming from my van. Sometimes, the sound appear. Sometimes, it doesn't. I heard a "whistle" sound (it sound like a kettle is blowing) even when i am not stepping on the acceleration paddle. What could be wrong with my van?
How come i cannot clear off the black smoke to none or minimal? is there something i should do to it or could it be engine problem? I know black smoke is caused by an over rich mixture and normally occurs whenever the engine is working hard. Like going up a steep grade, being loaded heavy or during heavy acceleration. More black smoke can be observed when the vehicle is operated at higher altitudes because the air is thinner. A dirty air filter is also another cause of excessive black smoke. If black smoke is noticed while the engine is idling at low altitude or under normal driving conditions this condition should be diagnosed a.s.a.p. to prevent engine damage.
So is there anyone out there (Specialist) that can answer my question? Your help is much appreciate. Hopefully, my problem can be sloved asap. Thank you for your help.
