Hi all

I am seriously considering the purchase of a 2006 Australian model Outlander VR-X with the built in dash mounted CD/DVD/MP3/GPS/SAT NAV. Can anyone who has purchased this vehicle give me some feedback on the following, please?

How have you found the quality of the system to use?
(Having test driven the car I thought it was quite cumbersome and seemed overly complex. But I only spent 2 minutes with it. Thoughts?)

How have you found the sound quality of ths system?

What is the gps/sat nav mapping like?
(The dealer was unable to give me any peace of mind that upgrades would be available. Essentially, he told me to deal with the equipment provider directly rather than Mitsubishi. He couldn't even tell me who the manufacturer is, but I assume Eurovox from the posts I read here earlier???)

Is there a provision for TV?
(I read on a previous post that there was a TV aerial available, but the dealer advised me this was not available)

Is the system Bluetooth compatible for Mobile Phone?
(Again, the dealer wasn't very helpful... nice bloke though!!)

I guess I'm really trying to determine whether it's worth the money over a VR model, given the quality of GPS/Sat Nav's that can be purchased stand alone in the Australian market today.

Thanks in advance for any advice you are able to provide.

Cheers

Ultan,
see my other post too.

sound quality is very good.

tv and reversing camera are optional.
About $300 or so each I think. Much cheaper to get installed at purchase.
Cant use tv/dvd when the vehicle is moving. There are some posts around on how to disable that, of course it is illegial/voids warranty, etc (insert more caveats here.....).

As far as I know not bluetooth capable.

I think that the vr-x is worth the difference over the vr model but not due to the stereo. (better off with the cd-stacker in the vr-x model).

Regards,
Gavin

Any other VRX owners with the sat nav had similar issues?

I purchased mine in 2005 (late Dec, but 2006 model). The Stereo is a Eurovox unit, but they have gone belly up. Mitsubishi is installing Fujitsi Ten units now, but I do not know anything about the replacement system.

My Sat Nav maps were updated free of charge by Mitsubishi. Its a complete replacement of the unit under the Passengers Seat.

The quality of the Sound, DVD (Region Free) is excellent. I am a little worried by the quality of the unit. I think in 6 mths time the buttons will be U/S. The DVD player is flaky at best. Never got through a Movie without it hanging or freezing (not that I have put a lot of movie through it). I have tried brand new DVD and they invariably stop working (e.g. listening to Concert music DVD's). You also cannot burn MP3 to a DVD as the unit recognises the disk as a DVD regardless of how you burn it. Still 6 hrs of MP3 Music on CD is excellent.

I have not found out how to disable the Speed Blanking on the DVD yet, though I have organised to find out inthe comiung weeks with an insider. I'll post my findings later...

Cheers Peter
