Its relatively easy.Have you ever changed oil before? If you want i can give you the whole specifics with a big long list but if youve done it before on another car its pretty easy. Just take your time, make sure youve got the right parts and tools and your sorted. Im pretty sure your colt needs 10W40,and while your changing the oil you may aswell change the filter too.dont forget to use a new o-ring for the smp plug.

I do not know about the older colts but most of the mitsubishi cars we service of an older age are every year or every 9000miles,the new colts are 12,500miles.I believe it is only the diesels that require servicing sooner than 9000miles.hope this helps

I have checked the service sheets and confirmed it is yearly or 9000mile service intervals using semi-synthetic 10w/40

Warm the engine up to normal temp, then let its stand for 5 mins.
Jack the front of the car up!
At the bottom of the engine is the sump, this holds all the oil for your engine!
At the back of the sump is the drain plug (bolt), undo this and the oil will drain out.. Be warned, theres a few litres in there, so make sure you have a big enough container!
While the oil is draining, remove and replace the oil filter (located next to the exhaust manifold).. you can buy a special tool for this, its unlikely to come off easily
Refit the drain plug and fill the engine with the correct amount of oil..

Check for any leaks at the drain plug and the filter and job done!

Remember to use axle stands when raising the car,and dont forget parts of the engine will be hot so be careful. And youll need about 3.3litres of oil.
