I am working a deal for a 1g gsx. if it goes through I will be parting out my RS turbo because I can't keep two fast cars (speeding tickets will break my bank account :P )

what I need you guys to tell me is, do you think that someone would buy a fully fully built 420a engine with a turbo system capable of 400hp? the way the engine is built it could produce 600hp but the supporting mods aren't there (fuel, bigger turbo, etc.)

I need to know because if I can't sell i won't buy the gsx.

the engine and turbo system collectively ran around $10,000 to put together. it has around 15k miles 10 of which were boosted @ 14psi. do you think I could get $4,000 out of it?

thanks guys

p.s. if you know me, you know how well it has been maintained

i think u can get 4 grand for a car like that...as long as the car is built up right there shouldn't be a problem...its just takes time to sell the car...and to find a good owner :57:

yea you could sell it but i think that parting it out would get faster results cuz most of us are kinda on a budget lol, and not everyone can just buy an engine. but.... i would like those 97 headlights and front bumper lol. if i had the money i would be the first in line to buy your engine but unfortuantly im just a 16 year old kid workin at kmart lol.

to be honest, i'm not trying to be a ****, but I wouldn't sell it to you. please don't take offense, but this is not just a built bottom end. it is a fully built race engine that really shouldn't be driven on the street. I had all intentions of using it for our race team but couldn't find information on the trans until recently. it wasn't supposed to be a street car and needs to be put into a car with a driver that has a little bit more experience behind the wheel :57:  :57:

So what happened that made you switch up from your belief of the RS to the GSX? Your long tran search end up at a dead end ? Last I read you were gonna get intouch with Hahn about thier setup. Did it turn up any gold?

I am interested in your motor Pwee. I have been researching parts/prices for the past 7 months since you helped me understand quite a bit. Could you PM more info on the setup when you get a chance? :57:

I wanted to build something else and the GSX shell will run me $300 minus engine. Everything else is intact, we took the engine out, built it, then the guy bought another car so we have a left over shell.

the stock trans ended up being stronger than I thought. hahn has made tons of 400whp passes on the stock trans. only difference was a quaife. they say the same thing john sheppard says about his car, "you just have to make sure it doesn't 'spin and hook' and launch it smoothly with smooth crisp shifting."

if you want a fast street car you aren't going to be running 400whp. more along the lines of a traction getting 300-330bhp.

I just found a 2.3 stroker short block for it and a stock head to go on it. I don't want to tell you what I paid for it because I had to kiss the guy :blush-anim-cl:

don't be fooled about the flow characteristics of the stock heads though. brent rau runs stock heads (not counting stuff like cams)

so I'm thinking about putting my complete engine, with complete turbo system, with complete fuel system (minus piggy back and wideband) on ebay and letting people go at it. still haven't decided though. would it be better to part it out and sell parts or sell it as a drop in "most complete engine and turbo kit ever" bolt on.

I need help deciding.

im starting to think you might be better off selling it in one big bundle. start the bid off at like 3500 or so and let peolpe have at it.

or you could sell the car as a whole, not just the engine. Im sure if you posted the whole thing on ebay, 2gnt.com, ect someone would give you like 6-7g for it... just make you have the recipts (which im sure you prolly do)

I would like to sell the car as a whole but the body has degraded to horrible shape since I've been focused on the engine. if I part it out I can also sell the 5-speed swap as a kit to someone who wants a 5-speed but doesn't know what parts they need.
