I have practically brand new high performance tires on my 17" rim 2001 eclipse and lucky me got two nails in one of my tires...One of the nails hit square in the middle of the tire so i know its fixable with no problem, however the second nail went in about an inch from the corner of the tire...And im wondering if a plug job would be alright or if a hole that close to the edge of the tire should be totally replaced with a new tire? thanks!

you will have to totally replace that tire. no tire place will repair a tire with a hole that close to the sidewall

If the nails went in on the tread even being about an inch from the sidewall it can be repaired, but instead of a plug have the tire place patch the tire from the inside. I have had it done before. they place a round or square patch of rubber over the hole and seal it with rubber cement. that plus the air pressure holds the patch in place. if the nail did go through the sidewall then you will need to replace the tire as the others have said.
