The MKIII's caaaaan be a fast car but its gonna take some weight reduction and a nice turbo and fuel mods to really get it going. If left stock or BPU it prob wont be much fun but we dont know what your brothers plans are. Here is a guys mkIII off our local board in Colorado.

He wasnt diggin the stock motor too much and decided to go with the mkiv 2jz and did the swap.

So with that said, if you brother has the money to build one up they can be made into a nice ride. Even working on the stock motor will be some $$$ though if he really wanted to mod it.

MKIII Supras aren't bad. However, the turbo models are known for blown head gaskets.

As far as beating a GST, it won't be happening stock. The Supra only has 220 HP, so you'll need a bigger turbo, upgraded fuel supply/injection, and a FMIC wouldn't hurt. 3" downpipe and cat back will help too.

yeah i know about the blown head gaskets. i am looking at one that has a blown head gasket. he wants 1500 for it. the body is perfect. it has 90000 miles on it. he said it was sitting for 7 years. it runs(but runs like crap because of the blown head gasket). my brother only has $2500. he just wants something with a turbo. does any one know why they blow head gaskets.

most likely because of the turbo. Usually they just install a metal head gasket. It shouldn't cost a lot to have to replaced.

It's been a while. I had a friend who was very experienced with the MKIII Supra Turbo. I helped in remove and install a turbo. He completely rebuilt his engine. I'm pretty sure he installed a copper head gasket. There are plenty of websites with engine parts for the Supra (7MGTE engine). You can easily get 300 horsepower out of it.

3" piping for the exhaust is good. I'd suggest getting a 3" downpipe too.

The MKIV 2JZ motor is the one from the last generation Supra (94-98).

The 2JZ motor can take up to double the HP of the 4G63 motor with the stock interals

Yea once they are cleaned up a lil like the one I posted above. If they are left stock, they arent too welcoming to the eye. Or at least to me they aren't ( Prob cause I'm not a chick though. )
