I just bought a 2006 Eclipse GT and I have noticed when I first start up the car and back out or go forward there is this sound like it's scraping the bumper on something. I thought this was mine but my mother in law bought one the same day i did and hers does it too.....any ideas what this is?

Did you ever figure this out? Just got my 07 GT this weekend and the scraping noise scares the hell out of me. It does it everytime I start the car and move forward.

The manual says there should be clicking sounds for the ABS and TCL. I hear the clicks, but I also hear the scraps. Its very repeatable. Is this normal? Ive read on other forums other people hear this too. They say its normal because its mentioned in the manual. But the manual only says CLICKS and engine whines. A scrape doesnt sound like either descriptions.

My 2006 GT does the same thing! I don't use the parking brake either. I don't know what it is, but it freaks me out. It sure does sound like a scrape rather than a click. Should I have it checked out?

yes i did finally find out what it was. i was told it's the abs resetting and the tics are the tcl.

I took it to the dealership today. They had no clue what the sound was. But i was able to get into another 2007 GT that made the same exact scraping sound. So my conclusion is that this is a normal sound at least for the GT models.

The technicians are such idiots. They first said "what sound?". Im like are you fken deaf? I pointed it out and he was like "oh yeah, what the heck is that?". I looked at him with that arent you suppose to know look.

Hi, New to the site, but 07 eclipse owner. for that sound, it is normal. I, myself, asked and it appears to be your car running a tcl check a couple seconds after you start to drive. weird but true.

check your brake rotors before and after you start the car, sounds like the calipers arnt releasing all the way and the pads are scraping against the rotor. look for any new scratches on the rotor. My old 97 did this alot due to where i am located.

When I first got my Eclipse it did the same thing... but now, it doesn't make that sound anymore.
