Some time ago my distributor failed, so I left it in for a replacement. They did the timing belt also.

It ('94 1.3 Colt) has never been the same since. I noticed the difference straight away.
It's now lacking in power when going up hills etc. When going home I used to be able to take 'my hill' in 3rd gear, but now its a struggle in that gear.

Sometimes when coming to an abrupt halt, the tickover might get a bit 'confused' and almost cut out.

Starts fine, petrol consumption seems ok-I think, plugs ok, leads ok, not mis-firing, good engine, doesn't drink oil, etc.

Possibly the ignition timing is retarded or the belt was installed incorrectly with the timing marks not aligned correctly. You might want to have it gone over by someone competent to diagnose it with those parameters in mind.

I warmed up the engine and put a strobe-light on it, and the ignition timing was fluctuating by a few degress, while the engine was idling.
The distributor is a reconditioned unit.

What is the correct ignition timing for a '94 colt 1.3?
