Hi everyone! I'm new to message boards, but I'm really enjoying all the great info here. I have an '02 Eclipse GS. There is a problem with the clutch & I'm not sure if it needs to be replaced or not. I Can't drive it right now. I didn't notice anything gradually, just one day I was driving and I couldn't go into any gear above 2nd without shoving the stick. My husband checked the clutch fluid and it was empty. We filled it up, turned on the car and we just can't get in to any gear. There is no resistance in the pedal either. My husband can see a leak and it's coming from the release fork boot. I'm scared how much this is gonna cost!! We just got back from vacation and have no money for this, so ANY ideas would be welcome. New clutch? Replacing just a part? I haven't driven her in weeks and I miss her!! :)
Thank you!

u have no pressure in the hydraulic clutch assembly, it means that as long as there is a leak, u cant shift....u need to get to a dealership and ask them what needs to be replaced, if its just a housing or something, then get the manual and do it urself...it is probably really an easy fix......my buddy's car couldnt shift right, he would grind in every gear, we thought it was the clutch, but it just needed to be bleeded

Well, the leak could be coming from the slave cylinder, clutch master cylinder, or an line along the way. There will be no fluid leak now, since there is no pressure in the system (since all the fluid leaked out when the system was pressurized).

Take it to a mechanic. They will be able to tell you exactly where the leak is.

My wife's slave cylinder went out in her 02. I got one off the net for about $25 and fixed in about an hour. Try not to just give that money to the Stealership.
BTW I'm not a pro mechanic and I don't play one on TV so even you can do the repair if you have a few tools.
