hi fellows, Its me again...........
I was wondering if the 2000 MIrage DE car with automatic tranny has any kind of Overdrive function.
As far as I know the tranny of this car is a 4-speed one . So, when i drive in the highway, I feel that over 60 mph the engine is revining high (just my impression, because my car doesnt have a tach). Its like it needs a 5th speed and the car doesnt have any Overdrive button or something like that.
Its normal??
does the 2000 mirage with AT have any Overdrive function??? its really just a 4 speeds tranny???

No overdrive as such. It is, as you noted, a 4 speed AT. My daughter's '00 seems the same way at highway speeds. My guess would be that the final gearing is low to allow for peppy performance around town utilizing a rather small engine. Her Mirage pulls well through first and second but it's pretty much all over after the shift to third. Then again, it gets great mileage so there is the trade off.

well, I think that the mileage could be better if the car would have a 5th gear or an Overdrive Option, because you will be at 60mph at a lower number of RPM, thus better mielage in highways.
Do you know about how many RPMs is running to get 60 mph in highways that Mirage???
