 Hi all. First post here.
I have a 1995 Verada that had a few probs when I first purchased it, mainly slipping around 80k's. I beleve that is now fixed.
However an ongoing problem, one I have just accepted and got used to is this:
"When car is cold, or not driven for a few hours, when first started and moving from idle to Reverse or Drive, the car jolts agressively. This is repeated before moving off.
The same thing occurs when the gears change, although before it jolts in drive it will over rev, then jolt into gear."
This takes place until the car is warm, normally around 15 minutes of driving.
I have just had the TP Sensor replaced, new sparks and cables, new battery.
If anyone has experienced this I would appreciate some feedback. The local Mechanic doesnt understand.

I may not have a V6 TR/TS, but for any car I would say 1800 RPM at idle is way too high! At most about 1000 RPM would be acceptable although may still thump even at that point, and above that there may be too much load on the transmission, causing it to make rather violent jolts when changing gears. Since the idle will drop a little as it warms up, that will cause less jolting.
I would follow Rob_D's suggestion in checking the ISC before looking elsewhere, as if it is surging while changing gears, that could be part the cause. Also ensure the TPS is correctly adjusted, as that will also cause significant issues.

QUOTE(erost @ Jan 11 2007, 02:40 PM) It didnt thump into gear the first time. it is slightly over revving but nothing near what is was like before. and the idling is now fixed.
Ill keep this topic posted as to any changes I notice though, but thanks for everyones assitance. See how this problem goes.
Well after all this time I still had the original issue, car was overreviing until warm (surging) at times. clunking into gears. my convetor was stuffed and then caused my gear box to be useless, plenty of metal shavings from the busted convetor.. I beleive this was on the way out before I purchased the car. A new convertor and a second hand gear box, and the car is running perfectly. not one issue. Appreciate everyones time and effort on this matter.
