Hello guys
I just bought a 2004 brand new Outlander and I love it. I wanted the XLS model, but there were none left, so I got the LS.
They have a difference in the number of speakers (LS has 4 and XLS has 6). I was thinking about adding a pair of tweeters to mine in the same position the XLS has them. My question is:
Is it easy to do? Since they are so similar, could they be prewired or do I have to do it? Any help in how to do it will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance

I just got a pair of tweeters and yes, they are prewired, it is just matter of removing the caps, install the speakers and that's it! Less than 10 minutes!

I did it!! So easy.
This is truely a mod for the novice and low on cash. I went to my local stereo shop and checked out a couple of tweeter sets. They had a Rockford Fosgate set for $60 or a cheapo brand for $10 a pair. My novice ears couldn't hear a difference and for my power needs, I went with the cheap stuff.

ApoSound - Niobium Micro Dome Tweeter
This is a Power Acoustik tweeter PN = 04-IM 28257-X0-00
The kit includes 2 tweeters with snap-on base adapters, angle mount adapters, and double sided adhesives and mounting screws.
I've seen similar items on ebay for less than $10, but I wanted them now and from a place I could hear them at.

I attached the angle mounts with super glue to the back of the tweeters since the snap-on feature didn't work readily. I wired in the speakers with some wire nuts. Finally, I adhered the tweeter assembly to the wall of the car with the double sided adhesives. The angle mounts direct the sound perfectly to the cabin and the adhisives hold them in place very well.

A great sound enhancement for $10 bucks! Now....what am I gonna do with the $140 I saved over the dealer?

Sounds like an easy worthwhile addition!! What type of speakers did you use? Were they oem? I assume probably not as they would be big bucks from the dealer. Are your speaker holes in the windshield pillar like my 04 Lancer Sportback's were or in the door pillar like my new 05 Outlander? I hope the 05 is prewired as well. I guess a quick check would be easy enough if all you have to do is pop off the grille.
Thanks
Clark

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Did you have to install crossovers as well or are the crossovers allready there.

Most tweeters are set up with resistor tweeters built in now. You would only have to run another crossover if you were going to amplify the tweeters.

Simply plug and play. You should be good.

It was a store just down the street from me off of Van Buren. Just a little dinky shop. I really don't even know the name of it.
There are about 5 of them off of Van Buren and the 91.

Thanks! Thats what I did. There's this local indoor swap meet and I got a pair for $10 also. Sounds great. I even have to turn down my treble setting to a 2 or 3. Easiest upgrade I've ever done.
