hello all,
what differences are there between the chassis and body of the 80's L300's
what I am wondering is i know of a good 2wd and a4wd in poor condition was wondering if the body of the 2wd would go onto the chassis of the 4wd or could i bolt everything up to the original 2wd drive chassis...?

cheers anthony

Hi Anthony,

Thought the 4wd's were built on a Pajero chassis and the 2wd's not so don't know if they will fit.

today i bought a l300 4x4 and the body differences are there..!!!!! cosmetics are the same eg lights, bumbers ect and that's about it.
This might help a few others...as not many seem to know
so far.......
fuel filler
fuel tank
engine bay width
engine bay height
Front seat's and brackets
steering coulum...
spare wheel location..
trim inside..
gear lever selector location and metal tranmission hump
undergear brackets....
back tailgate same shape but no wiper/washer holes.
engine and exhaust 1.8 and a 2wd 1.6.
The 1.6 engine will bolt up, but the exhaust manifold will have to be changed.
Some of these changes are not that bigger deal but other's leave a question mark as weather you could put a 2wd body onto a 4wd without a lot of work...!~
you may get around the engine bay height differences with a lift kit but it will have to be over 100mm.but then you haven't overcome the width problem.....

keep you posted...!!

I decided to repair the 4x4 instead of doing all the mods to convert the other van,as it turned out the spare van wasn't in as good condition as i thought.
so the repair have been started and the van will be painted in the next cpl of weeks.
work has begun on the starion conversion and the engine will be dropped in before being sprayed so fingers crossed it dosen't need to come out...!

a cpl of pics of before and repairs almost complete.
