Well I think you should get Evo 9 MR. I never drive evo 8 but if you are getting evo 9, you should get MR type since car is really really fun to drive and it's turbo is better then the other Evo 9 type :57:

i just recently got the evo ix special edition and the difference between the 8 and the 9 is that the 9 has a mivec engine and a slightly bigger turbo. the 8s had 271 horse and now the 9s have 286hp and 289 tq the only thing different from the regular 9 and the 9 mr is that the mr has a 6 speed tranny, blistien shocks and a few lil thinks like boost gauge, lip on the spoiler, bbs rims, and hid lights, but i got the special edition so i got all of that except the six speed and shocks. to me goin to the mr wasnt worth the extr 4 grand.

I apologize for little off-topic question. Is this the only difference between European and US EVO, or there's more to it?

As a owner of an Evo IX MR Special Edition, the other differences between a Evo IX and a MR are, Aluminum roof and front fenders. The 6 speed is a close ration 6 speed with 6th gear being an overdrive.

The SE version of the MR includes the optional items of the front lip spoiler (Apperance Group) and the wicker bill (Zero Lift Kit). In addition, the SE gets anthricite Lancer Evolution badges on the back as well as the red MR. The final difference in the SE is the red stitching on the Alecantra and leather Recaro seats.

Peace,
John

All non-US version Evo's also get the Active Yaw Control.
