I am having a problem with my Delica Starwagon Diesel Turbo. When the engine is kept at a fairly low rev range (around 2000rpm) the temperature stays fairly low. However, when I put the foot down a bit further and the turbo kicks in the water temperature starts climbing rapidly towqrds the top of the scale. I then have to pyull over, let the steam pressure decrease andf add more water to the system. There is no smell of diesel when I release the pressure (VERY carefully), no sign of oil on top of the water in the expansion tank and no mayonaising of the engine oil.

Am I right in assuming that this indicates that there is a problem somewhere around the throttle body? Is it an easy fix or am I looking at big bucks for the repair.

Done all that. The van has sat in a barely moving queue for over 1/2 hour over the weekend without any temperature problems. I was also able to drive over 100km without overheating by keeping the revs below 2000 (speeds around 80-90kph). The fan is pushing plenty of air through and there are no leaks as i was able to drive for 3 days at local road speeds without losing any coolant. The thermostat is working as there are visible changes in the temperature needle indicationg the thermostat opening and closing.
