I own a 1993 Mitsi Mirage 2DR hatchback. It was a Jap import so the radio did not get NZ stations. I installed a new radio, after finding the current radio wiring diagram, and it works great. But now the dash and rear lights do not work. Brake lights, indicators and front lights work fine, the fuses are all fine, the bulbs are all fine. I can't figure what I might have altered when installing the radio, that would affect the lights - anyone have any thoughts? My local library does not have the manuals and I'd prefer to avoid taking it to an autoelectrician, (but will if I have to, no tail lights is serious).
Apart from that I love my little car, it is comfy, economical, has lots of room for holiday gear.

Morning Morgel,

This is very interesting as the same thing happened to my Mirage two days ago. I two have triple checked everything. One of my friends told me last night that there is a 2nd fuse box under the hood and that maybe i've blown one of them. (I will check that later).

Have you had any luck at working out what the problem is? It seems such a strange problem.

Thank you so much. Under the hood there is another fuse box and yes, I had blown one of those fuses. I had wondered if there were more fuses but never thought to look in the engine bay. And just in time cos I have it booked in to the autoelectrician tomorrow, now I can cancel that and save money - I hope your problem is as simple to fix.

I replaced the fuse under the hood and it blows again as soon as i start the car. I think it might be cause i replaced a blown fuse while i was putting the radio in. I will try taking that one out again cause i think it had been blown for a long time.

Does anyone have any idea which fuse is which? its all japanese to me.
