Okay I am assuming the answer to this is no but decided to ask it anyway.

With installing this are you able to control you iPod with your steering sheel controls? If not has anyone figured out what would be required?

No. I guess you would have to get a control cable, but I don't think the stereo supports that.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion.

Hey how long is the cable coming out the back of this device that plugs in to the iPod? If I got this I would want to mount it so that the iPod could sit in the tray by the gear shift. I would want to be able to pick it up so that I could control it but still see the road while driving instead of having to look down. That would be a reasonable alternative to not being able to use the steering wheel controls, not the best solution but not the worst either.

Thanks,
Sean

It's about a meter long, barely long enough to reach the centre console box from the glovebox. But I guess if needed you can extend the wiring as after a box, its pretty much a normal 3.5mm audio cable.

Maybe you can even drill a hole for the 3.5 jack where the cigarette lighter would go if you didn't want to do that mod.

Hello all this is my first post and look forward to your help and vice versa.

here is the dilema I have an 07 LS with media centre without the rear DVD screen and A/V input.

What i am trying to achieve, is to add an aftermarket roof screen. now i have a contact who has supplied me with all the training material and wiring diagrams whic will show that all the plugs are there in the car to plug the OE unit into. THe A/V plug is at the back of the console behind the panel which clips off, but dont go thinking you can tap into it here, it lead to the 24 pin plug under the pasenger seat which is where the OE roof screen would connect to not to the head unit.

Within this plug is everything you need i presume to hopefully add an aftermarket DVD. Power. Acc Lights Audio and possible two video leads the audio and video leads are shielded and go directly into the head unit (fat grey wires with blue, brown and green stripe from memory. THere are two wire on the plug which i havent quite sussed as yet which yeild a low voltage of 3 to 4 volts which may lead to the can bus unit attached to the radio

you can also get into a service menu by pressing set and navi for more than 3 seconds which lets you into a wealth of options but be careful as you could really screw things up here.

MY hope is that if i connect audio and video to the fat gey leads the can bus will detect the unit and enable the function on the screen.

So im am asking if anyone else has tried this as yet and had any luck if not i will do my best to crack it and let you all know and maybe develop a patch lead

regards

Darren UK

Forgive my naivety here, but I just bought an '07 Outlander LS which does not have the Aux input on the rear of the console. I want to hook my mp3 player up, but found the fm transmitters to be way too staticky. I'm hearing a lot of talk about the nav system and/or the rear dvd player...which my vehicle has neither option. Would I also be able to hook up my mp3 player (Sony Discman) by connecting to the rear of the CD player with this cable? A $40ish cable beats having to replace my stereo head for no other reason than to get an aux input. Thanks for any help!!
