Can anyone help me with a timing belt question for my 1998 3.5GDI Pajero? I have read the timing belt needs changing at 100,000km but is there a maximum time in years before it needs changing? my car has only done 53,000km so far. Thanks/Ivan

well the uk spec shogun petrols are every 54,000miles/6 years.it is a conservative service interval but it is cheaper than replacing a damaged engine if it fails.also be prepared for other things such as the tensioners and idlers for the timing belt.look for companys like gates that do timing belt kits that come with the belts, tensioners and idlers.
