hi

I have a 1999 Mitsubishi SPACEWAGON. (actually a CHARIOT as it is an import)

problem is:

when riding at over 60mph the ride gets very bumpy at the front (thru the front wheels), and there seems to be a loss of power. You can feel this through your feet on the floor but not thru the wheel.

does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

i have had the wheels balanced & the tracking done, but it still happens.

thanks in advance!

derek

Hi Derek,

I've just joined as new member to this website a few days ago. I have similar problem. A nuisance, isn't it! The following is part of my first posting to the forums:

"It was a delight to drive when i first got it, but now (after 18 mths of ownership)it's getting quite unpleasant.

First, the engine sounds very rough at times - the disturbing tek tek tek noise of the tappets. 2nd, it's lost the magic carpet ride - lots of vibration even at the slightest unevenness of road surface. 3rd, the front part of the car (front wheels + engine compartment ?) jerks suddenly while cruising at relatively low speed (say, 30km/h, or 50 or 80km/h, the occurences were unpredictable). "

Note the 3rd problem - that's the nuisance we're having.

As u encounter it above 60mph, i get it quite random at lower speeds as pointed above - some days i get it, some days none of it. What i have to do when it comes is to step off the accelerator to slow down the car, re-accelerate, and the drive become normal again. Is that what u actually encounter also?

Some mechanic diagnosed that the drive shaft (the left side) has substantial wears & tears, and needs to be replaced. However due to high cost expected, i haven't heed the advice. Just have to live with it !?

Anyway, it's been many moons since your posting - have you since solved the problem?

Regards,
- Chung
