I recently upgraded the stereo in my 2003 Outlander to one of JVC's double DIN DVD units. I originally had the premium stereo in the Outlander with the tweeters, amp, all that stuff - and it sounded pretty good. I decided to upgrade so that I could have a satellite radio deck, and play DVDs. After upgrading, the sound is just awful. It sounds like everything is high-mid range - NO bass at all. I had the car audio place put nice Infinity speakers in the doors too - still no bass at all.
I asked the car audio place why I had bass before with the factory system, and now I don't with this one, and they said it had something to do with the fact that the factory amplifier could only talk with the original unit, and not the new unit, and the only way I was going to hear any bass was to get a subwoofer.
This idea just sounds ridiculous to me. I shouldn't need a subwoofer just to hear SOME bass. I don't want to shake the neighbors house, I just want my music to sound good. I know that when the stereo was hooked up they needed a special type of adapter to patch through the amp.
Someone help, please!
