Alright I am brand new here guys but have some experience with cars. Here it goes, I changed the oil in my mirage only to find that it looks like water had gotten in there. So I check the compression in my cylinders to see if I blew the head gasket and everything is fine. Then notice that my PCV valve is shot and take off the valve cover. I have this white sludge looking stuff gunked up in there so we whipe that out and now we notice that the oil smells like gas is in there...flush the oil and put some oil treatment to flush all that gunk out and the car runs great for about a quarter tank of gas then it goes back to being slow to accelerate and I look again and the sludge is back...any one have any idea of whats going on here? because I dont anymore.

Well .. it's easy to test whether the head gasket has blown or not. DON'T TRY IF YOUR ENGINE IS HOT. Make sure your engine is in cold state. Fill your radiator with water to MAX. Then without place/close the radiator pressure cap, crank the engine. See if the engine pressure force the water out from radiator through cap lid. If is does, then so sorry... you just have to do top overhaul.

But, if i doesn't... then you still have to remove the head, then bring it to machine shop for "Water Pressure Test" for Head Leak/wreck.

If the head come back with a negative result (head is in good condition) .. then you have to say bye bye to your engine block.

Good Luck !

Ok look the head gasket is alright...the rings on the piston head is alright...the blocks not cracked, I live in North Dakota so that might be but I severly doubt that since my coolant is not leaking it and stays at the same level all the time. My guess is the intake manifold gasket now...
