Hi All,

Yesterday we bought a 1998 Chariot Grandis Exceed and are really please with it. Luckily the original Nav.CD was left in the vehicle wich is also the re-boot CD that is needed if the battery goes flat etc. and obviously the Sat.Nav won't operate here in New Zealand, but what I would like to find out is if the TV. Format can be changed so that it can work here in NZ (e.g. I work for BMW and on them you just need to go into a menu and change the format to NZ and away you go with the TV), can anyone tell me if thats the same for the chariot?

I also have an e-mailable word document showing the english tranlation for the buttons on the operating panel if anyone wants this?

Cheers

Hi folks
Just signed up as member, have been scrolling forums all day on this topic as I've just purchased a Chariot Grandis and have similar quaries.
Some things I've discovered...
1. There's an old thread in this forum discussing the MMCS (Multi Communication System) and some of the members in NZ have started a web site for this problem, see http://mmcs.ignition.net.nz/
2. Some guy on NZ site www.trademe.co.nz had sold a CD containing the firmware to translate the LCD screen functions to english. Also sounds like he's trying some things with the TV function. I think his email is fpga4ever@gmail.com
3. Regarding the TV, it sounds like you may need to get a converter from NTSC to Pal.

Don't know if this helps or adds to the frustration.

Cheers
Harley

Zamo

The cd unit with the disc in it is under the drivers seat.

I've given up on it and took that out and the original head unit and put a jvc head unit and cd changer in instead. All I need now is to fit the clock/centre pod from the dash top of one of the less highly specced models and remove the mmcs screen.

No point keeping it if it doesn't work as far as I'm concerned,I'll stick the original disc on ebay when I get round to it.

the one i have been looking at has a flip out dvd head unit as well as the standard unit.there are two aerials on the back window for the tv.this is probly going to be useless due to a different country code for the dvd and not pal tv.i think someone on here said there is an aux socket on the unit under the seat for a dvd input,is this true.

The front of my original head unit flips up to reveal single slot cd but not dvd, the unit under the seat has 6 multi plug receivers in it, one from the loom for power and the link to the screen I assume and another to the head unit, the other 4 were empty, one being factory covered with tape. The translated mmcs manual (JPNZ - FRO225)I have concentrates on the 4 different types of head unit only with no mention of disc drives.

Hey could you please email me the english manuel to me on viktorj@dodo.com.au as mine is in japanese. And If you want to get the GPS working, u must buy a NZ GPS disc from either a store or eBay. And is anyone selling a english head unit, like the japanese version? And what are the antennas on roof used for, TV? If you search for 'mitsubishi chariot' on ebay in the 'cars, parts and vehicles ' category there are normally New Zealand produced English translated manuals available for both the later types of chariot and a separate one for the MMCS system explaining how it works and giving translations for the buttons on four or five different models.

I have already sold both my MMCS manual and the original system disk and changed the units out so have no more knowledge than the information I had seen that is in the MMCS 'sticky' thread at the top of the forum page.

edit: the unit I had was the same as photographed by IMPORT GARAGE above and that one is in the MMCS manual also available from JPNZ Enterprises on www.jpnz.co.nz

today i was fidling with my Super-Exceed, and the antenna on the right has its wire cut for some reason, but i found that my TV does get some reception, it sometimes gets clear sound with fuzzy screen, or fuzzy noise with the TV screen working, but abit fuzzy. And i live in Australia which is PAL format, but maybe the antennas either need more range or i need to properly connect the right antenna to get better reception. And could you please send me the English translation of the headunit, i kind of know what the buttons do, but could you please send it to viktorj@dodo.com.au

Thank you, Import Garage.

i dont think hes coming back to these forums, but if one of us gets hold of a copy, they should put it up. I understand how to do alot of things with my grandis and I once somehow opened the casette tray. But its realy is hard to understand the japanese. the only thing im practicly helpless is with the NAV system and the CD stacker, i dont have the hand controller.
