I have a 95 Galant S and it has been running like a dream for me.

Recently it has developed a shimmy that only happens when I am accelerating in the range of 60-70MPH. Anything more or less and it ran smooth.

When I accelerate slowly through this range, the car does not have the shimmy. If I punch it through this range, there is no shimmy. Only when I do normal acceleration.

Also, when I am above that 70mph threshold and I go around a turn... I start to feel the shimmy again.

Any ideas? I wouldn't think it was an alignment issue because it doesn't do it when I am coasting at that speed. But, I am no expert.

Thanks in advance,
-Bjorn

Check your tires. Check the balance of the wheels. If either A. you have improperly balanced wheels OR B. the belts in the tires have shifted causing your tires to become oblong, you will feel a shimmy.

correct............rotate tires and then go get a new set to replace the bad set...

Try not to speed as well braking under shimmying can be quite a playful experience.
