I'm having trouble determining whether I have the proper automatic transaxle fluid level. I've read the instructions on how to check it (car on level surface, engine warmed up, momentarily select each gear ending in park, engine idling), but I can't seem to get a consistent reading.

I thought it looked low initially (barely above the cold mark when warmed up), so I added a small amount (few mLs) and now I'm afraid I have too much.

I know you're not supposed to have too much or too little, but I'm not sure how to consistently measure what I have.

How much is too much? If it's over the hot mark at all, should I loosen the drain plug and let some out? Or drain the whole thing and start over?

Thanks for your help.
