i have just got a 1980 colt 5door 1.4 auto and would like to know if this car needs to run on leaded petrol or if unleaded is ok. it is having a little problem at the mo and would like to rule this out as the cause.

I dont know but if you have the owners manual it should say in that,and sometimes inside fuel flap it will state it there too.

if the engine code is 4G12, than the engine is suitable for unleaded petrol, so you don't have 2 look for leaded petrol. if theres another engine on your car, reply me with the engine code, and i ll try to give you an answer.

ps. minimum octane rating for 4G12 is 91RON
this information is obtained from autodata 2004, ver 5.373

Ive got a 1982 colt 1400 and I have run it on unleaded now for about a year and it runs perfect.

i have had an 80 in the past and now drive an 84 and they both run fine on unleaded. whats the problem i might be able to help you out?
