I have a 93 V3000 that has done nearly 250,000kms and smokes so bad that 2x smoke treatment and 20w 50 does not work well.

Recondition will cost $1000 plus (don't know for sure but thats what I undersand) and V3000 are heard to come by pluse I like a challange and the fact she will be a little different and have growen attached to it. Here in NZ they will be handing out fines for smokey vehicles soon, and this is a prime example.

So what engines fit into the bay of a 93 V3000 with out too much trouble (I like challanges but not the impossable)?

new zealand version of the magna

looking at the New Zealand auction value of the V3000 and no one is buying them .............. is it woth keeping

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/SearchResu...on=100&x=16&y=9
if it isnt the valve stem seals
and the engine has done a lot of kms

just buy a second hand motor from a wrecker that doesnt smoke
(sometimes they have a fitting service)

or one you can hear running privatley

you could buy a reconditioned bottom end- no head ( lower block rings and bearings) that may be cheaper

Your problem could be as simple as the valve stem seal needing replacing.

Have they been changed? If not then I would try that before any drastic action particularly if the smoke is worst at idle or on revving after idling for a while.

If it's just smoke during take off, then it's just stem seals which are fairly easy and cheap to get replaced. If it's smoking constantly, especially during hard acceleration, piston rings.

These guys are dead on , That model of the 6G engine was plauged by valve stem seal issues after years and lack of proper oil change intervals. Valve stem seals all the way.
