I believe the non turbos have different hanger locations and I am pretty sure they are a different diameter as well, even in aftermarket

SOHC to DOHC, then a turbo geez man your going to have grey hair by the time your fully done building your car, why not invest in a vr4 you will have the pleasure of AWD, if you are looking for a really quick car, and it sounds like your 3000gt base isin't really cutting out for you. It might be a fun project but man let me know how SOHC to DOHC goes I've never heard of that being done yet.

For the love of God please just drive that car and keep your eyes peeled for a vr4.
AWD AWS I have an sl and im just driving it... I wanna go faster I have the money to buy a tt motor but then I dont have AWD AWS... Its a diffrent chasisis and everything. I will be waiting for the right VR4 to come along and I beg you to sit down and think long and hard before doing somthing that will cost you soooooo much money It makes my stomach hurt.

If your current car is in decent shape you could buy a vr4 chasis with the motor trans rear diff and aws and swap your body panels and interior theres a project that is worth it. plus you can by a 91 vr4 turn the boost from 9 to 11 and basically have a 1997 vr4... I dont wanna sound like a drag but I just faced reallity tonight about it for myself and I hope you realise it as well.

Yea, i know its a whole lot of money. Its not something i have alot of but... i've been thinking about just buying a VR-4 anyway. But the thing is that my 97 3kgt is my graduation car, so i cant get rid of it so i might still do the swap. Im trying to find a single turbo kit for the car and i know theres almost only one out there but i figured what the heck why not. So right now my plans have gone from a swap to Single Turbo, Borla CatBack exhaust to give it some attitude and a cold air intake. As well as many bolt-ons that i can possibly get on to it. But later on in life i do wanna buy a VR-4. I agree the motor swap is a good idea but thats a whole S*** load of rewiring.

heres the deal, and take it from me. i attacked the SOHC from every angle. i was looking at superchargers, single turbo's, twin turbos, a 3.5 swap, a DOHC swap. i looked at everything. and then i looked at a Dodge Stealth R/T Twin turbo for half the price of any of my previously stated ideas.

if you have to keep you SOHC then do, make it nice, put a good system in it, bring it up to top notch standards, then you have a great daily driver and decent gas milage car (i get about 500 per tank on my 98 base)

now what you do is buy a cheap vr4 or R/T TT, (i paid 2500 for my 92, and its in pretty decent shape)

then you but performance parts for your twin turbo AWD AWS car, and while upgrading your bad a$$ ride you have another eye catcher getting your great gas milage.

hope what i said helped you, and please trust me as i spent at least 8 months exhausting every idea on the SOHC, and just came up with lint.

oh, and to your first question, yes they are different.

well all i want to do is the DOHC swap and then exhaust, headers, and intake. thats about it. so i just want to know how much trouble it would be to do this. then later on down the road im going to try and find a nice vr4 for a good price then work on that.

replied your other thread.

Take it from Mike that car you have will remain SOHC because the cost involved will be more then a TT.

You can build a custom single turbo and have some fun.

Closed/ for not pertaining to the OPs question that was over a year ago.
