Hi Ken, thanks so much for posting all the great info. I have a quick question regarding 1983 L300 4wd steering bellcrank bushes. Are you aware of why the nolathane repalcement bushes for a 1983 4wd are to big for my bellcrank? Was there more than one bellcrank setup around this year? Any info would be much appreciated. Cheers, Iain Gover

Hi Iain
The Nolathene bushes do appear to be to big to fit but they do go in, However my concern is If they are obviously that much bigger , You may have the wrong crank fitted to your vehicle. Perhaps you could compare your bellcrank to another one to asertain whether yours is indeed the right one. I'm not even sure if the 2wd bellcrank is the same or not, however this could be a cause if they are not the same.
Hope this hase been of some assistance to you. If you require measurments let me know and I will measure up the one on mine and e-mail them to you
Regards Ken

Gidday Ken, cheers for the reply. Managed to get some original Mitsi bushes in the end. Unfortunately after fitting them I realised that the bellcrank had been machined and new custom bushes had been fitted. The shaft running surface was 34mm but I didnt measure the bore. Pretty sure the 2wd uses nolathane 41042 bush kit which is only 25mm shaft diameter. This doesnt explain my original problem of the 41077 nolathane bush kit being too big!? Have made up some new bushes and its all good. Cheers for your help.

The nolathane bushes are bigger so that u can trim them to size. This is what i have done in the past. ( i was replacing bushes every 3 months) I brought a second hand one from a wrecker a few years ago because my shaft was coroded. I pulled it apart to service it and found that it had bearings instead of bushes, so i regreased it and fitted it to the van. I havent had any problems since.
