I have a 1998 WA Starwagon GLX (Auto) that has done 235000Kms. On idel mainly if aircon is on and when started it blows alot of blue smoke. Does anyone know if this would be due to stuffed oil seals or valves or could it be the rings. It does not blow smoke when accelarating. From the day i bought the van it has always seemed very gutless. Is this normal for this model van?

Dave

Dave sounds most like oil from worn valve gear as it is worse when just started, although I would say it may be a combination due to high k's on the engine. I have a 2002 starwagon and it is a bit gutless for an efi but they are quite heavy. I would do a compression test if I were you. That will give you a better idea how good the rings and valves are.
