No turbo as of yet. No awd. I think that mitsu wants the evo to be the flag ship performance car for their line up. What would you think that they would make something to compete with the evo. It would lower sales.

im new to the foriegn market because i have parents that are ford execs and ive always had a mustang gt under my **** at least 99 through 2004 gt's and i just test drove the 2006 eclipse gt and to be truthfully honest im buying it.... i let my friend drive my automatic 2004 mustang gt and i drove the automatic eclipse gt (automatic.....yea i know im a ****. so what) and i smoked him off the line and then he caught up and beat me by like .25 secs. being a newb in the foriegn car market can someone explain how a 4.6 v-8 can do the same thing as this 3.8 v-6 (im very new to cars as im younger any tips or info would be appreciated)

the engine isnt the only thing that will make the car faster. the gearing ratios are probably different. the eclipse is probably more geared for low RPM torque. seems that the v8 would be geared more toward a higher top end.

if you want to get technical....my sources tell me that the STi does 0-60 5.0secs.  and also, we are talking about stock....if the rev limiter is removed, then it is no longer stock.

and just FYI, the 3G gearing top speed is 172mph.  so i have no doubt that the 4G would have close to that

I just bought my 06 Eclipse just over a week ago and so far I love it! I decided to go with the GS with upgrades instead of the GT. I felt that the GS was best for me since I don't intend to race my car and feel the GS offers what I want/need. By going with the GS I saved quite a bit of money. I think before people jump into the GT just because it's a "GT" consider the additional cost of the car, the extra taxes on it, higher gas costs and higher insurance costs. If you want a fully loaded GT and will put it to use then get it. But for those of you who aren't loaded with lots of cash like me then the GS may be best for you. I bought my car for $23k in a nearby city with the Sun/Sound pkg and accessory pkg. The $23k included tax/(new)tag/title and delivery of the sunset perl car from another dealership since the dealership I bought mine from did not have the sunset pearl at the time.

I do have to admit this car gets a LOT of attention. The first couple of days it was kind of cool but now it's becoming annoying. When you drive people will stare at you. When you stop at a red light, more people will stare at you (so don't pick your nose :P). The most annoying part is people messing with the car. For example, I parked my car at Wal-Mart the other night and this guy and his wife just walked up to the car and started looking in the windows, touching it, walking around it, etc.... When I got back to the car about 45 mins later another guy runs up to me and says "Excuse me! Excuse me! Is that the new Eclipse!?" and wants to sit inside of it and check it out. So my advise, PARK THE CAR AWAY FROM APPROACHING PEOPLE AND OTHER CARS! It's kinda funny, I think this car attracts more attention then some cars double its price!

When/if you buy the new Eclipse make sure the dealership does not mount a tag on the front of the car or place any advertising on the vehicle! I have seen some pics online where this was done to the eclipse and it looks tacky.

BTW- To open your trunk you have to press your trunk release button TWICE. I read that in the manual but even the dealership didn't know that. At first I thought something was wrong :P

Sadly the car not only attracts people who want to look at it, it also seems to attract idiots who can't park.

I could park my car out in the middle of nowhere on a Monday afternoon at the store, go in, and I come back out and there's some moron parked right next to my car.
It's amazing how something as simple as a car can totally override the blatant laziness that causes a person to block traffic for 5 minutes just waiting to get that ultra-close to the store parking spot. Nooooo they have to park next to the car that they think is "cool" or "owned by a stuck up rich person".

Idiots. They can park next to my car if they want, but I'd better not find a freakin' door ding when I get to it, or they'll wish they'd givin in to being lazy.
