I tried finding a related forum but as a newbie, had difficulty so I gave up and hit the new topic button. I hope thats okay.

My recently finished rebuilt 1g is running rough, it stalls when downshifting, revs high, idle surges particularly when warming up, occasionally bogs a little when shifting at high speeds. And this is after it being professionally tuned. Mechanic recommended upgrading my throttle body with a bbk which is believed will help my problems as well as add some more power.

I would like to upgrade my 1g throttle body with a bbk 2g tb that I got a good deal on. I was told I might need to change some things to make it work, but I'm not extremely mechanically inclined and could use some help to try to do it myself.

Can anyone help me and tell me besides installing the TB, what else needs to be changed or done to make it work?

Thank you

Sounds more like a vacuum leak.

Okay, Would you recommend figuring out if it is a vacuum leak problem before installing the new throttle body? How do I figure it out?

Am I wasting my time and $ installing the bbk 2g tb, or are there some significant benefits?

If its worth doing, what else will I need to do to install it with no other problems?

THANKS

an easy way to find a vacuum leak is to spray starting fluid around the hoses. if the idle picks up congrats you found it. as for the benefits i dont really know how much of a difference if would make. good luck.

Just a word of caution. Be very careful when using starter fluid to find a vac leak. It's very flammable. If it's not a vac leak and you have unseen arcing or loose connections it could catch fire. WD-40 is less flammable and with the straw they give you it can be pinpointed to where you want to check. Just my .02's worth. Good Luck.
