hello mate

2.8's are famous for fuel pump seals going. you can get them rebuilt at your local diesel specialist , prices range from £150 - £400.

Have you blanked off your EGRvalve?, this can help cut down the amount of smoke your paj belches out, also improves driveability, makes the old girl alot more repsonsive.

Cheers Mark

Thanks Mark for the info sorry i took so long in replying work and that i"ve just paid out £642.32 for a pump rebuild including removing from vehicle, is it still worth blanking off the EGR valve as the vehicle does not smoke now only me in fear that it might happen again ! Thanks once again for your reply. Kev.

Hello Kev,
No such problems with mine. Have you checked your glow plugs and injector tips.
Sugest you start there. The pump rarely gives problems.
Hennie.
