I've just picked up a L300 2.5D work van SWB.
The seller mentioned a "rattly exhaust",and when I bought the van I assumed it was just the baffles in the box rattling, but I now realise its had a bodged repair after the box,and the pipe ends next to the spare wheel cage!!
I read online about recalls to do with a weak exhaust.
So looking up the exhaust online and at exhaust centres, there's only a listing upto 1996,and my van is a 98!
My question is will the >96 exhaust fit, flexi joint to the tail.is the 98 the same???

Thanks!

Hi Jonsheaf
Although I dont know much about the diesel vans My question is this. When you bought you van was it supplied with the UK equivilent of a Road worthy certificate, or even is there such a thing? If there is a similar scheme in the UK you could approach the person who supplied said certificate and ask him to rectify the matter as its not legal to issue said certificate against a "Bodgey repair" If you bought it as is, unfortunatley you are up for the cost of repairs.
I would imagine the differences between a 96 and a 98 arnt that great under the floor area. Please dont quote me on this! Generally a manufacturer retains the basic floor pressings and only changes "cosmetic" items
A quick glance under both vans should confirm this
Good luck
Regards Ken

Hi Ken,
in the Uk we have a certificate of roadworthyness (called an MOT),but the van was bought very cheap, and it's generally accepted that once you've viewed the vehicle and tested it out there and then, then you take your risks!
It does have an MOT though although it's coming towards the end of its year.

Hi Again!
Guess then your stuck with it! Cant be that expensive to go to an exhaust shop and get them to bend up the bits you need.
I guess we are very lucky here in aus to be able to go not more than 200 yds to get almost anything we need!
Regards Ken
