1. Hi, saw your name on the chat room thingy, would you mind telling me where I can find a user manual for my model van online? I just got a van I want to turn into a camping wagon, but someone has fucked all the wiring in the van so I’m trying to reconnect all the original wiring from scratch... HELPPPPPP! haha. Thanks if you can help, Mat. (New Zealand)
Hi Matt, Supercheap Autos stock Gregorys manual #604 for L300, however online is not happening currently. However attachments I have included in this e-mail, in MS Word format, will give you the wiring code and diagram, hope this helps, Mike. (New Zealand)
2. Hi, thanks... Would you know which wires went from the distributor to the ignition coil, (2 wires) and the ones from the ignition to the coil ( 3 wires )? If I saw a photo I would get it right first time, but looking at the diagram doesn't give me the solution of where the positive or negative wires are going to.... Thanks for your help, the images were great!
On my 1991 the two wires from the distributor to the coil are black/white to the left hand side of the white ballast resistor block, and the blue to the upper coil terminal. The three wires from the ignition to the coil are black/white to left hand side of the ballast resistor, black to the right hand side of the ballast resistor, white to the upper coil terminal. There is a short link wire from the right hand ballast resistor block to the lower coil terminal.
3. I tried that combination but I think the Negative and Positive connecters might be upside down...the ballast block is OK Wires work OK! BUT On the ignition coil there are little negative and positive symbols next to each point, are you able to confirm which wire is connected to each of them. Then I think I’m in business!
Yes on my van the lower coil terminal is the positive.
4. Ok got spark now.... YAY!!! its so simple but if its not right... nothing happens... hahahaha, bugger. It still won’t start but it seems to be getting petrol into the carb, isn't it frustrating when everything looks fine! :-( there’s not a lot of petrol going into left side of the carb and the right hand(drivers side) side looks dry as a bone, I guess check for a block is the next stage... then... I guess I will have to call it a day for now. I will have to find someone who can give me some useful tips when trying to get it to Kick start into action... I should put some petrol into the carb huh, hmmm. next step. Thanks for you help again.
Good progress! Unfortunately my scanner is not relating with my new motherboard at present so I am unable to scan & send the carburettor pages to help you. I am in Mangere Auckland and could photocopy and post to you if necessary, as you are also in New Zealand. E-mail: miris@orcon.net.nz
