Simple question. '96 base 3000GT. How much horsepower does it have? And what's that in comparison to the SL and VR4 of the same year?
Keep in mind that '96 is still the DOHC, before they reverted to SOHC in '97.

Hi,

I have a 96 GT and I believe they are all 222 HP and the VR4 Twin Turbo is 330HP. Those were the only two engine choices for that year. In 97 the SOHC engine was available in the SL about 175HP I think. in later years I think I read that the DOHC engine went to a bit over 270HP.

vr4 is 320 at 11 PSI and the pre 1994 vr4's were set at 9 psi running 300 hp and the sohc number is high by around 10 and all these numbers are at the flywheel not the wheels.

but the dohc is 222hp like stated above.

91's - 93's run anywhere from 7-9 psi, and 94+ run 10-12 psi, it really varies,

Stealth316.com is a great sight with an amazing amount of knowledge on these cars, check it out.
