Thought I'd start a thread specific to the Evo X coming to Canada.
I found out from my local dealer that we are getting this car in Canada.
Great news. I will be one of the 1st in line for one.
I don't really like the red paint on the concept but I think this car will look pretty damn good in black or maybe even in white.

Any other Canadians thinking about getting this car?

I'm thinking of getting this car, but I don't know the exact price, since I'm a student; I might not be able to afford it. Another alternative I'm thinking of looking at is the Evo VIII but I need to figure out if I can register it and insure it here (Calgary) cuz I've been to kanetix.ca and they have it listed under Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 4WD. I'm not sure if that's the older generation Evos though... Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not sure about importing an old one. I think I saw some threads here about it. I know that Transport Canada has a list of cars that can be imported and if the car you want to import is not on it, it is nearly impossible or very difficult.

I'm only interested in a new one (X) from an authorized Canadian dealer with the full warranty that they offer in Canada which is one of, if not the best in Canada.

I'm also curious about the price. I'm hoping not much more than $C45K but you never know, could be more.

Damn, this forum is kind of dead.
Only 5 posts in three weeks?
Maybe it will pick up once the car, Evo X, is actually for sale.

planning on getting it if it's not too expensive (around 45k?) since i don't know what the exact price point would be... my lease is up on my current car next apr but when i asked my broker last month to check on the evo from mitubishi for me he said the dealer told him to check in dec, I don't mind putting down a deposit for one right now if it's even possible since the regular lancer GTS has a back order till nov or dec last time i check and might happen to the EVO too?

I also spoke to my local dealer as well as Mitsubishi Canada and they both mentioned "first quarter of 2008". The dealer by my work will call me when he gets them in as my co-worker also wants one.

If it's priced similar to the STi, then count me in. I almost bought the STi then heard the EVO was coming so I held off.

I am quite interested in this car... in the US, it will be priced as follows:

less than US $30,000 for the Evo X RS (bare bones)
about US $35,000 for the Evo (with pretty much all the goodies)

I would certainly hope that the price is Canadian dollars would be about the same, since our currencies are now equal. It would severely anger me if this car was priced above ~$38,000 for the nicely loaded version.

Many people have complained over the years about the unfair pricing between the US and Canada, and there is currently a class action lawsuit that aims to bring attention to the matter. Many people have been importing their cars from the US and saving thousands, but sometimes dealers try to prevent, will not honour warranties, etc.

If the Evo is overpriced in Canada, I would LOVE to import one from the US... (I imported my current 96' BMW M3)... but as it currently stands, the US 2008 Evo is inadmissble in Canada:

http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importation.../list/VAFUS.pdf

WHY? Mitsubishi Canada is selling the 2008 Evo! I smell a conspiracy to prevent Canadians from buying this car in the US and, as a result, rip us off.

NOBODY accept a price over $40K! If that's the price, maybe I could add my name to that class action lawsuit...

I'm definitely getting this car. I'm 13 out of 15 at Platnium Mitsubishi in Calgary and ordered mine this week :) I was told that the GSR is going to be around $45-47,000

Why are you paying $10,000 more than an American would pay? I would truly like to know... please ask Platinum Mitsubishi for an answer and post it here!

Trust me, the 291 is gonna feel like 500 in the evo! Plus, if u want to can can still mod the evo for more juice.
I agree with the above comments about the american price conspericy. If the difference is more than 5000, i will defently be lookin towards the south for the car instead of here. Last year i enquired about an '05 Evo in Florida. When i called they were more than willing to make the deal happen to Canada. But ofcourse i found out that the car wasnt saftey issued to be in canada, b/c of the stupid bumper restriciton.
Its a shame that its so close to the new year now, and we still dont have a solid price point for us Canadian buyers!

Cant wait till I get outta school, first thing will be getting the EvoX. Love the GTS but it'll be nice to have the Evo. But ya, over 45000 would be a bit much...how would I go about importing from US? wouldnt it cost bout the same cuz of the taxes?

I was talking to Todd at Platnium Mitsubishi in Calgary and was informed that the Evolution X from the United States is not importable into Canada. I was told it has to do with resale value in Canada and retape issues...what ever that means. I just hope Mitsubishi doesn't gouge Evo owners on the price. I'll keep ya posted on further news.

Hey Jason,

We setup the site that you mentioned and would love to get your feedback on it.

We also setup a YouTube Channel and a Facebook Page for the car, if you are so inclined.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mitsubishi-L...75768376?ref=ts
http://www.youtube.com/thelancerevolution

If you could let us know what you like and don’t like about these sites and anything you would like to see added to them as well as your thoughts on the car in general, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
The Mitsubishi Team

The site is cool and informative, i'm not too picky about how or what a site should include, so all i can say is that it's setup just right in my eyes.

I went to the dealer here in Abbotsford last week to check it out.
What a dissapointment to find out we are being severely ripped off in Canada. :crying:
I thought with all the recent press on the difference in prices, Mitsu. would have had them a little closer.
I have changed my mind completely on this car.
I'll probably bring in a couple of yr. old Cayenne V8 from the US now, for the same money.
