21/27 I think for the LS2W. (2.4L engine)

I just calculated my mileage for my 2004 Outlander with 1000 miles on it. 23.5mpg doing mostly city driving and stop and go on the way home from work.

I'm VERY happy.

 I have AWD and a HEAVY foot that tops out the tach every once in a while and I get about 19-20 MPG on 87 octane. I love the auto shift transmission!! I just filled with 91 octane to see if there is a difference.

I'm interested in the answers, because they bear no relation to the official figs. I agree with everybody (I get around 23-25 mpg with mostly high-speed motoring), but I'd find it a tad disappointing if I didn't have the LPG option.

Otherwise, very happy with my September '04 purchase, which has already done 13,500 miles!

26 mpg on my way to and from Vegas. When I had a chance to cruise, I did at about 82 mph.
Maybe if I stuck around 75 mph, I would've got the 27 mpg highway the EPA suggests.
The trip is 250 miles total and has some slow and go in and out of towns, but mostly cruising.
I had just over a quarter of a tank left at the end of the 250 miles.

91 octane gas made no difference in the MPG for me, however, it did seem to up the performance a little bit. It had that "cold start" feel all the time whereas with the 87 octane, after it warms up it tends to lose a little performance. Just a bit of info for you all. Enjoy!!

:( Not so clever mileage around town, Auto only box means 14-19mpg on a decent run at a steady 70-80mph expect between 23 - 28 ive never managed more than 28 though!

Our 2004 on average with mixed city and highway drives (80-85 mph) gets 24-26 mpg. When I drive 70 it gets much better but then you are getting in the way of the long haulers.. best to keep your speed up around here. WE plan a 3500 mile trip in May. We should get a good all highway average out of that. I'll try to remember to report back.

Well, if you're looking for cheap fuel consumption do NOT buy the Outlander Turbo, so far I'm having 1.69L/10KM. But OTOH I've drived it only 600KM ;-)

2005 Mits Outlander Limited. Just completed a highway trip of 800 miles. Got 29.5 and 28.0 mpg(cdn) or 23.6 and 22.4 (us) on two fills. Conditions were prairie flatland, with no wind on first tank, and 7-10 mph crosswind on second tank. Cruise control set to 110km/hr (68us), light traffic two lane. Vehicle has 2400 miles on it. I did both fills so they were filled consistently. Sometimes I have found that in busy times in full serve stations they will shut things down as soon as the pump shuts off. This gives a variable fill level depending on the pump flow.

Just bought 2.4 auto Outlander. Have done 496 miles so far and it has averaged 28mpg. Driving almost entirely town driving. Car computer somewhat inaccurate, has never shown more than 24mpg. Miles to empty showed 60, yet had 15 litres left in tank.

Last 2 cars have been 2.5 V6 saloons when I could get 30-31 round town. These two cars liked quick accelleration to desired speed for best mpg. Both were fussy on make of petrol, worth experimenting.

either the fuel here in the philippines is crapzors, or something.

new '05 outlander (2.4L non-mivec), i get about 8km/liter mostly city driving, which translates to almost 19mpg.

I have 8000 miles on my Outlander now and still get a good 22 mpg easy. It's an '04 with Mivec engine. I thought that's all they came with now besides the non-U.S. turbo.
19 mpg isn't too bad in comparison. If you do the math, it comes out to a small difference in money spent per month...unless you drive a few thousand miles every month.

With respect, the difference at $2 a gallon is a bit less than at $6.80/gallon!! :D

In any event, there's no real excuse for the manufacturer's figures to be more than 10% higher than what we seem to be experiencing. At 30,000 miles a year, that works out at more than $1200 a year unexpected extra expense for me (which would cover my car tax and insurance).

Really, it's my only gripe against what is a good car.
