Hello all

Ive had my car for just under 2 years and in the space of 2 weeks the air conditioning has broken. :crying:

I took it to my dealer and they say it just need recharging and have quoted me £70.

I have some questions, Surely the Air conditioning is supposed to last more than 2 years between refills (I had a Honda for 5 years and that never needed to be touched).

Wouldent it need more than just regassing if it stopped working in such a short space of time.

And most of all my car is still under warrenty, doesnt this cover the air conditioning meaning they have to pay for it.

Thank you for anyones comments :crying:

It's possible you have a leak. Do you have factory dye in your AC?

a/c is covered generally if it is under manufacturers warranty and found within the first year.however if it is not a brand new vehicle it will not be covered.a/c is a tricky thing as to maximize a long life out of it it needs to be used at least once a month.I have seen many times where people do not use it over the winter months it causes problems as the seals can dry up and cause enough of a leak to allow the r134a to escape.there is oil in the system to lubricate but it is dependant on usage.it the other possability is that you may have had a stone chip cause a massive and much quicker leak.regrdless it does not have to be one at a dealer as any a/c specialist can leak test your system and then recharge it afterwards if refrigerent is all it needs.
either which way you choose just remeber to use it as much as possable in order to maintain long life.even on cold start up when you turn the front defroster as it should clean your screen in a fraction of the time it would without using it.
sorry this seems a ramble and you may know some of this already but my personal experience has shown that most a/c faults can be related to lack of customer information(not there fault)as most dealerships do not fully explain the operations of a vehicle before handing it over. good luck

Fortunately any time your defroster goes on you use your compressor...
