QUOTE(brokendsm @ May 10 2007, 09:45 AM) thats amazing cause they both have one that both get the hell ran out of them on a daily basis and there holding up great not a single issue yet. and thats after almost a year now GM has had issues with its engines and leaking. I had a 2005 Saturn ION (don't laugh, it's basically a Cobalt/Cavalier) that the axle seal on the passenger side AND the head gasket were leaking badly after 22K miles. I am not saying the Cobalt SS isn't a great car (I personally like them) I am just saying I don't trust GM's engine-making ability anymore. I had Nissan school with a guy who is also a GM Master Tech and told me even the 5.3L and 6.0L V8s are leaking coolant from the same locations as the V6s. Why do you think GM went to Saab-derived 3.6L and 3.9L V6s? Because they realized they can't build them on their own. And, yes, I realize GM owns Saab, but they are still Saab engines, not GM. Just telling you what I know FROM EXPERIENCE. It's all I can base my knowledge on.

QUOTE(brokendsm @ May 11 2007, 10:12 AM) im by no means saying that there perfect but im just saying i havent expericed no probs yet (knock on wood) That's good, then. I've worked on all sorts of 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 cylinder cars and I can honestly say besides Volkswagen (which isn't even that bad) GM makes the worst engines in terms of fluid leaks. Part of the reason they extended their warranties is to cover their butts with people complaining about reliability, and because nobody wants American cars anymore. Japanese cars don't need super long warranties because the cars last long enough.

The 3.5, 3.6, 3.9, 2.2, 2.4 and 2.0 are all outsourced. Seems GM learned something this time. Of course, this also is because Opel is GM but...I still think it's funny they are using someone else's engines
