 I have 02 montero sport limited and i know that at one point (even recently) the seat belt indicator came on whenever the seat belt was not secured because that is what caused me to start wearing my seatbelt. It stopped coming on when seat belt is not buckeled, so I took it to the dealership who basically told me I am wrong -- that it is not setup to function that way. It does come on and blink when the car is started, but when you undo your seatbelt, it doesnt.

I called mitsubishi who told me to contact other dealerships and ask.. I did and was advised that I am correct, the seatbelt light should be coming on. After arguing with dealership about it, I called Mitsubishi again yesterday who tells me to speak with the Service Manager and GM.... well I had already done that, no success.

Dealership telling me that they have checked all the electrical and it is fine.

So here is what I'm wondering, I have read that other less expensive vehicles have a way to disable the seat belt indicator light through using a special combination.... I'm wondering if that could be the case with my truck, and if so how to reset? I'm thinking of unplugging the battery for 15 or so minutes to see if that resets it. Any ideas?
