Hi all,

I don’t know why every time I touch my Outlander door it zaps me. Sometime it zaps me badly! I’m not the only one . . . my wife too! She scares to death every time she jumps in and out of Outlander. We have no problem with the old one - 2002 Chevrolet Tracker

Has anyone the same? How do I avoid it?

Please advise. Many thanks

You can attach a grounding strap to the underbody. This will conduct all static electricity to the ground.

it`s all the electric system working fine?? may be you have a short circuit in your car. static electricity is not created by a car , and the door handle is plastic so is not a conductor of electricity. Check your car baterry conection...

other solution is use rubber gloves to open you car

Contrary to our last friend static electricity is cause by the air flowing around your car while driving and since your tires are made of rubber they isolate the vehicle from ground therefore a static charge. You can actually measure the voltage charge by measuring the spark lenght that is developped between you and the car. About 25000 volts for every centimeter spark so 2 centimeters 50000 volts. Of course since there is no current developped there is no danger for your life but it can be very annoying. Grounding starps will do the trick. A car battery will max out at 14.3 volts, no sparks there.....
