When I first got my 01 GS I was hesitant like most new drivers to hit the highway doing 90mph after having just recieved my liscense. After a month or so I grew some balls and wanted to see how far I could push it. I got up pretty nice but once I hit 85-90 I noticed that the steering wheel was shaking. It wasnt like jerky just a lot of vibrating. I took it to the mechanic but they didnt notice anything serious. Any ideas on what it could be?

are you doing this on the stock tires?? the stock tires are not made to go fast in. that could be causing it, or a bad alignment as eclipseracer said

The same thing happened to me and I needed to get my rotors replaced, and since then I haven't had any problems.

MY CAR WAS DOING THE SAME THING, AND IT ALSO WAS A BAD ALIGNMENT. AFTER I DID THE ALIGNMENT CAR WAS SUPER SMOOTH AND I COULD HIT UP TO 120 WITHOUT ANY SHAKING.

Had it happen on my vehicle for awhile also. Had the alignment checked three times, and that wasn't the problem. Ended up being something in the tires which could not be spotted, and went away after I bought all new tires.

well it can be the tires, but usually when u get an alignment its recommeded you get new tires anyways.

No the werid thing was it wasnt when it was braking it was when I was accelerating past like 85. I took the car to the mechanic after the accident (still there til wednesday) and other than my front bumper, hood, ect ect he found additional problems that were fixable...who knows maybe it will stop when I get it back. Til then im looking into some new tires possibly I know of a few with a good track record. Nitto, Perreli (however u spell it) ect any other ideas.

My car did that too when i broke 100mph, its an rs though. it only did that as i was slowing down, i never got it checked. going that fast really pushed my car hard. i read in the need for speed:underground 2 strategy guid that my car top speed is 130. i don't plan on going that fast anytime soon though.
my car probably still does that, i just havent pushed my car that hard since then.

you probably just need an alignment (like so many others have said) to get everything balanced.
