When he has the money, he's going to do an RB25DETT (2.5L I6 Twin Turbo) and 6 speed transmission swap from a RWD Skyline R32.

I asked our parts manager at work to bring his S13 to work tomorrow so I can take pics of that, too.

He wants to keep it RWD. The swap is easier that way.

Look out for as far as school or as far as the car you are building?

As far as the Silvia, make sure you check out the frame rails and all under the car, it is prone to rust. Don't worry about the engine/transmission, because you can tear those out pretty quickly. I helped our parts manager and the master tech with the parts manager's car and it only took 3 hours to get the whole engine/trans out.

As far as school, make sure you get a good amount of electrical and diagnosis information. Anyone can throw parts on a car and figure out how to do it, not everyone can figure out electrical faults and diagnose a car the first time.

Other thing I recommend is getting into a dealer while in school even if you are only a porter. It's worth it because now I'm at my 3rd dealer making my way up the payscale and going to factory training.

First dealer I was at I did only tires and rims (BMW). I moved to another dealer and did basic maintenance and helped out the master techs (Honda). The dealer I'm at now, I worked under a tech for 4 months. At that time, my boss felt that I don't need direct guidance, so I moved into my own stalls. I do everything that I'm able to, and if I need help, since I help out all the other techs, I don't even have to ask and someone is over looking at something with me. I can do my own check engine lights, brakes, suspension, hell I can even pull my own engines/transmissions. But, since I'm still hourly, the book time guys get the majority of the gravy work, but I get a TON of experience.
