Hello Mitsubishi lovers, I do not myself own a Mitsubishi anymore, but my girlfriend does. She has a 2007 Eclipse 4cy and she has the slight problem of hitting things... frequently.

For example, currently her fromt bumper is suffering from spider web cracks of the paint, her front left fender is dented, and her hood is really messed up... all from 2 cones she hit while speeding on the highway.

Aside from taking her keys from her, all I can do to help is help her fix her car. She does not want to claim the damage with her insurrance and wishes to pay out of pocket. She got some quote from the dealership for her hood and the total shocked her.

I said I would try to find a salvage or affordable replacement (I do most of my own work on my own car, including some body work to repair a rear end accident where I had to swap out the hatch.) She's got this notion of getting a carbon fiber hood (and not painting it or getting hood pins, both no nos in my modest modding mind) and so if at all possible Im going to try and get her to find a stock hood for cheap.

Where's the best place to get an OEM hood, new or salvage?

And if that doesnt work I'll start researching her carbon fiber hood :(

Thanks guys! :nahrung034:

I believe it's called Satin Meisai or something similar, its a dark grey metallic with a hint of green.

i agree it would probably be easier to find a cf hood then an oem.they might cost you bout the same but the oem will probably run higher in price.

A carbon Fiber anything on a car that will frequently be in minor or major incidents is a bad idea, Most are flimsy and you run the chance of the latch breaking on a frontal impact and the hood jumping up and smashing the windshield. Now not only do you need to replace the hood AGAIN, but also the windshield.

But yes I agree it would look pretty good
