I just bought a 2003 Outlander a few months ago. I am still in love with it. Its by far the best car Ive ever owned.
However, there is a little engine rattle, sort of chirping, on the passenger side of the engine during torque-y conditions. It only happens during acceleration up hill, or on the highway for example.
I took it to the dealer to have it checked out and they said it was nothing, just regular engine noise. Does anyone else have this sound and is it a big deal? It does not seem to be affecting my engine performance at all, its just kind of annoying. Please let me know if anyone has suggestions.

I have an '04 outlander. I think our engines are different as I have the 2.4L. In any case, a rattle during accelleration sounds like a throw-out bearing. These are usually replaced during a clutch service in manual transimissions, but I'm not sure about the automatics.
I have a rattle that sounds like a throwout bearing in my automatic Mazda MPV as well but it has 67000 miles on it.
They won't do any harm as I'm aware of, but they will be annoying.
