Just wondering what people were getting per liter or gallon?

So far my outie is performing a little under for what is rated for....im getting 6.6 litter per KM or 15.7 mpg?

What are some things to improve the MPG that have to do with the engine.....or car itself....?

thanks

Here is my log for last year. My average was 26.16 MPG with my best tank at 32.43 MPG. The most I've ever manage on a tank was 635 kms.I think your driving will determine how good your mileage will be. If you love to pass those G6's at 220 kms per hour you will have to pay at the pump. That is fun though!!!!!
I've installed a K&N Air filter which helped slightly, about 8%. Increase tire pressure to 35 from 29 listed in door (an other 3%) Slowed down on highway from 130 to 110 ( a Whopping 20%)

that is a great log....you have it down to a science!! I am going to try the tire trick....i have mine at 29.....but going up to 35 sounds like a good idea....i just put in a new airfilter....not a k/n but it should help a bit.....after that i guess it is all about the way you drive......

At 29 my Outlander was wearing tires outside, at 35 it seems to be wearing the tires better if alignment and suspension are good. Let us know if your mileage increases. I think when you hear your engine groan it's guzzling gas. So the less you hear your engine the better your MPG.

Most of the time I'm getting 25-26 m.p.g., but the killer for me is high-speed cruising. The difference between cruising at 80 and cruising at 85 mph is about 3 mpg in my experience. I get there no quicker, because I have to fill up more often! Also agree about the tyres - I just had mine replaced at the 63,000 mile service, and the mechanics over-inflated them, saying that 2 bar (30psi?) is about 10% too low, as this wears out the outside of the tread. Had to fit Pirellis instead of Yokohamas, but it doesn't seem to have made much difference, other than making a harder ride.

Maybe you need to get your timing checked.

Hi - With my 04 Outie I've average 11.5 lt / 100 km - 24.5 mpg (UK) over 115,000 kms. The fastest I ever go is about 100 kmh / 62 mph, which is the legal limit. Most of my driving is city. Tires are inflated to 38 psi - still a good ride.

Not timing belt (timing) You know,,the advance spark partially set by the ECU but there is also a mechanical set that has to be done so the ECU has a propre working range. The ECU sets for optimal fuel economy for your type of driving within certain limits. The mechanical setting of crank position sensor sets the nominal timing for spark.

I have a 2004 XLS AWD with MIVEC engine. When the light came on last night on my gas gauge I had 525km on the odometer. It took 51 litres to fill-up, that is almost 29mpg. Sorry CanadianOutlander. My best tank ever was just short of 600km at close to 34mpg 3 in the car driving back from Montreal.

Please mention what kind of engine you have on your Outlander / Airtrek and if its AWD (4x4). I only just got mine, a 2006 Airtrek Brazilian model with the 2.4 L MIVEC engine, 163 horses.

I've only just driven 600km on it or so and tanked up twice (before the light when on obviously), and I'm averaging about 7.5 km/l or the equivalent of 18 MPG, do note however, that in Brazil they add 25% of alcohol to gasoline. Since alcohol has a lower thermal energy output than gasoline, it reduces the autonomy per liter, i.e. MPG goes lower than with pure gasoline.

Gasoline prices here are at around US$ 1.35 / litre.

Just had a best tank. Fueled with regular gas 87 octane at Petro Canada and drove (-2°C at start +2°C at finish) 622 kms on tank before refilling 53.85 liters (32.6 mpg) on this tank. 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS AWD is rated at 33. I had 210 kms at first quarter and 390kms at half tank, 545kms at ¼ tank 622 with needle on line of empty.

I have an Outlander SE AWD w. the 2.4L. I average just over 17mpg in mostly city driving on regular unleaded. Fairly abysmal, but not terribly surprising given how much weight and how many wheels that little motor is responsible for.

se,
though most, if not all 4-cyl 4-wd cars probably don't avg much more than 23-25 mpg's, for those with manual transmissions as well; that 17 mpg's even for cold weather is a bit low....do you allow much warm-up time? does the engine have a lot of miles on it? if it's 10 degrees out, i guess most of us would let the engine idle for a couple or three minutes, but much more than that would just kill your mileage. now, i did get a few tankfulls at about 18-19 mpg's stop and go, with about 5-8 or so minutes warm-up time in real cold weather with my 93 expo awd, but that was with an engine with over 250,000 miles on it, just a few months before i decided to buy my 2006 outlander....but hey, what do i know...?
anyway, here's hoping your mileage can improve.
