Hey guys

I took some shots of my van while I was down at my Mothers place on the weekend while cleaning up the garage down there.

couple things about the van, 94, swb, 2L, tinted & lowered with 50mm lowering blocks (I have a brand new 100mm lowering block kit if anyones interested? will sell it cheap)

when I sold my old honda integra type R, I had my lightweight track racing wheels still sitting in the garage, with the semi-slick race tyres still on, so I thought for the fun of it I'd see if they fit on the van, and they fit perfectly... so they've stayed on ever since... but after trying to get off mums lawn for 20minutes, I've decided its time to get some new street tyres. hahaha

a quick question for some of the guru's... I am a complete noob when it comes to carby engines... but I still have a pod filter sitting in the garage from the type R that might fit on the van, does anyone know if it'd be benefitial to the l300 engine performance? or is the enclosed canister style air filter specific for a carby engine?

here's a couple of photos off the phone of the van at mums place... before and after getting bogged on the soft wet grass haha

Before

After :(

Nice looking van. There's lots you can do to the van mate to get performance. It just depends on what you're prepared to spend and how far you want to go.

Check out my van spec. 2.4 Turbo

We've tuned the 8v 2.0L manual to over 170 bhp at the wheels and the 8v 2.0L Auto to 151 bhp at the wheels. They haul @ss!

Generally you can double the power just by removing the carby and going injection. 8v 2.0L auto produces about 35bhp at the rear wheels. You can get over 70bhp injecting it with an aftermarket computer and tune. Once you've done this you're ready for turbo charging. So you can do the conversion in stages.

man your van is an absolute beast, love it.

did MRC do the turbo conversion? I was wondering how much they charge for that conversion, I emailed but never got a response.

I'm weighing up options for early next year to do something, either engine conversion or modify the current 4g63, at the moment I'm just seeing what other people have done and whats worked for them etc. so any input is greatly appreciated.

another thing I was wondering about is if the turbo components from the old starions etc would swap onto the 4g63 in the van or if the older engines would bolt in?

I work at MRC so this is one of our vans. Its a mild tune at the moment as we've got serious traction problems with the single spinner diff. We're chasing some LSD and diff ratio changes at the moment as you cant grab a gear fast enough when you're on boost as it revs out so fast with the 4.6 diff. As soon as we've a solution we intend to run about 16psi with a different cam. Should make some serious power then

You can use Starion pistions on the 4g63 engine. We have already done this with good results. But in all honesty if you're not wanting to run big boost the stock pistions are good for 14psi.

You've lots of different options. The 4g63 is a good strong engine. If you've the gen II 4g63 you can put the 16v head on (if its not already 16v). The 16v model has massive potential. We've got a 16v manual model putting out 220bhp at the rear wheel at 12psi.

I'd personally recommend sticking with the 4g63 as its got lots of potential rather than engine swaping. That way you've saved the cost of doing the conversion first.

Sorry we havent got back to you but we've had lots of emails about the conversions so its difficult to respond to each one.

Regarding the price you've lots of options mate. Also the price depends on what you really want out of it. Some people want/need new rings and bearing before starting the conversion. Usually worth doing if you've big kms or she's smoking/using oil. Auto conversions are cheaper as there is not clutch replacement. Ignition systems are required on some vans as the stock one's missfires over 10psi. But some vans have been ok. Brake packages are also availabe too. Some people wanna upgrade and some don't. Some people overhaul the cooling/oil system. So its difficult to put a figure on the conversion.

Let me know what you want from the van and I'll get you a rough price.

Cheers
yby (aka John)

WOW! They look really good mate. The offset on the rear looks tops as it fills the arches well.

What tyres you go for?
