I have a 1999 automatic mitsubishi carisma, 1.6.........i am facing a problem with the air conditioning in the car!

I was told that i needed to refill the gas (which i did), but it did not work...... the air is not cold.

I asked again, and i was told that the flap door that switches between hot/cold may be jammed and that it does not open all the way to the cold side!

This kind of job requires unscrewing the dash-board and removing it to get to the problem.

Anyone please,,,,,thanks

you have not said wether the a/c compressor is engaging or not when switched on.if the clutch is not engaging look for the wire/wires coming off the comressor as the most likely culprit.they have a tendency to break over time and cause the a/c to stop working.easy by just either reconnecting or adding an additional length between the break and rerouting to put the flex elsewhere in the loom.hope this helps.

The a/c compresser does engange when turned on, but the problem is that the a/c is not functioning as a/c.

The compressor works and air comes out in the car but not in the coldness that is supposed to be expected.

Is there a chance that i have a leakage somewhere in one of the a/c pipes (there is a big one and a small one)?

Another thing is that when the a/c is turned on, the cars motor is really dead.....i know that the a/c needs power, but i feel like the car only drives on first gear when a/c is turned on

the motor tends to die

thanks
