Don't get me wrong when my Outlander works well I love it, it's the best riding vehicle I've ever owned and I've had 17 GMs from Citation to S10's and full size chevrolet. But it seems to me that suspension parts keep going bad prematurely on my Outlander. It was wearing tires inside in the back had to replace dogbones now it's wearing tires inside in the front and both inner tie-rods are bad. Is this normal for Japanese imports.........? LOVE MY MITSUBISHI BUT HATE THOSE TRIPS TO THE GARAGE.

IVe been up there in New Brunwick...It IS the pothole capital of the world. Blame it on your winters!

You need to be careful how you drive (if you arnt already). I have an 06 Outlander with 30k and my suspension is fine. It is very abnormal that you have to replace the dogbones OR tie rod ends that soon. You might want to look for some aftermarket suspension parts for off road applications. Just google it. That may be your safest bet

I agree with you 100% Outy.I have a long commute daily..and like you a lot of the time its in deep snow.I put winter tires on and i can get through anything in it!The best and safest AWD vehicle ive ever owned......BUT it hasnt been trouble free thats for sure.Had mine in for rear suspension problems 3 times(was all warranty work so far). The last time they removed the entire rear end to replace a rubber bushing.Mechanic told me it was a good thing it was under warranty because it was a huge labour job. When i drive over smaller bumps or cracks i have a lot of clunking coming from my front end(like something is loose in suspension)that seems to be getting worse. It also has a faint worn bearing sound coming from engine(belt side)that from my reading online might be pulley tensioner bearing? And last but not least both of the headlight lenses are cracking bad! There is no moisture getting into them but they look bad.Full of fine cracking. And i live so bloody far away from the closest dealership that its a day off work and 6 hours travel time to complain and argue over wahts on warranty etc.The main reason i bought this car was because my other old 1994 Mitsu made dodge has 280000 on it and the only thing that went wrong with it in all the years was a water pump! Not so lucky with the new one.Strange that i still love it ...but i do.

All my failures are listed in my Garage profile, but I know what causes that clunking noise in the front. That's a cheap repair . Front sway bar bushings 20$(#MN100250). I replaced them myself in 30 minutes and I don't have a hoist.

I bought my 04 at 20k, now it's at 50k, and the only I've brought it in for, literally, is that recall for the fan controller. That took about 5 minutes in the parking lot.

I'm pretty much a newbie with car maintenance, but I've tried to keep up with everything myself. I have noticed an occasional squeak coming from the rear suspension. Maybe I'll look into that some more. But overall, I've been extremely pleased with the reliability of this vehicle.

I'll probably take it in at 60k though for the timing belt. I'm not ready for that!

My 2004 Outy with 30,000 on it has been pretty good but I notice a pronounced squeek from the rear suspension when going over bumps and depressions. Sounds like it could be a suspension bushing. Any idea what is causing that?
When I brought it in for dealer maintenance they told me they did not notice anything but it is definitely there and I need to find out if this should be fixed while it is still under warranty. Front tires were wearing on the outside but I just rotated them. I guess I should keep an eye on that also.
Let me know what you think.
